The bill amends Section 77-2-29 of the New Mexico Statutes to increase various fees associated with livestock services. Notable changes include raising the inspection or permit fee for the importation or exportation of sheep and goats from sixteen cents to one dollar per head, and increasing the service charge for inspection requests from ten dollars to fifty dollars. Additionally, fees for recording and researching brands, as well as for additional copies of certified brand documents, have been raised from one hundred dollars to two hundred dollars. Other fee increases include the inspection of livestock and hides, which will now be two dollars and fifty cents per head or hide, and the handling of estray sale proceeds, which will increase to seventy-five dollars.
Furthermore, the bill introduces a new fee for moving livestock to or from seasonal grazing allotments, set at fifty percent of the livestock inspection fee. Other fees, such as those for licensing livestock auction markets and issuing transportation permits, have also been increased to one hundred dollars. The effective date for these changes is set for July 1, 2025.
