AN ACT

RELATING TO LAW ENFORCEMENT; REQUIRING REPORTS FROM LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES ON CRIME INCIDENT AND BALLISTIC INFORMATION.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     SECTION 1. [NEW MATERIAL] REQUIRING REPORTS FROM LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES ON CRIME INCIDENT AND BALLISTIC INFORMATION.--

          A. The department of public safety shall identify standards and procedures for law enforcement agencies to report monthly crime incidents and ballistic information. The department shall provide standards and procedures and related training to state and local law enforcement agencies as necessary for the agencies to report monthly crime incidents and ballistic information.

          B. Every law enforcement agency in the state shall submit to the department of public safety:

                (1) monthly reports on crime incidents and ballistic information in the format prescribed by the department; and

                (2) any other crime incident information as may be required by the department.

          C. The monthly reports and other statistical data reports generated by the department of public safety shall be made available to state and local law enforcement agencies.
