A MEMORIAL
OPPOSING THE REMOVAL OF CANDIDATES FROM PRIMARY AND GENERAL ELECTION BALLOTS AND ENCOURAGING DISENFRANCHISED VOTERS IN OTHER STATES TO MOVE TO NEW MEXICO.

     WHEREAS, the Colorado supreme court issued a decision removing Donald J. Trump from the 2024 Colorado republican primary ballot; and
     WHEREAS, the Maine secretary of state removed Donald J. Trump from the 2024 Maine republican primary ballot; and
     WHEREAS, other states are acting to remove Donald J. Trump from the republican primary election or general election ballots in those states; and
     WHEREAS, several legal actions filed by presidential candidate John Anthony Castro to remove Donald J. Trump from the 2024 general election ballots in several states, including New Mexico, have been summarily dismissed; and
     WHEREAS, neither the New Mexico supreme court nor the New Mexico secretary of state has taken any action to remove Donald J. Trump from the 2024 New Mexico republican primary ballot or general election ballot;
     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that any efforts to remove candidates from state primary election or general election ballots be opposed and that the right of voters of all party affiliations to nominate the candidate of their choice for office be supported; and
     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that voters in states who believe they have been denied the right to vote for the candidate of their choice be welcomed to make their permanent residence in New Mexico, a place of free and fair elections; and
     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be transmitted to the Colorado secretary of state, the justices of the Colorado supreme court, the Maine secretary of state and the forty-fifth president of the United States, Donald J. Trump.
