AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE SECRETARY OF STATE TO CONVENE A COUNTY REDISTRICTING TASK FORCE.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     SECTION 1. APPROPRIATION.--Two hundred fifty thousand dollars ($250,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the secretary of state for expenditure in fiscal years 2024 and 2025 for the secretary of state to convene a county redistricting task force to study and develop recommended redistricting procedures for New Mexico counties and to contract for services necessary to the work of the task force. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2025 shall revert to the general fund.
