This bill mandates that law enforcement officers and prosecutors notify the State Parole Board (SPB) when a parolee is charged with violating a domestic violence restraining order. It amends existing laws to ensure that the status of individuals on parole is accurately reflected in the domestic violence central registry maintained by the Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC). The bill establishes procedures for the SPB to access the registry to determine if a parolee is subject to a restraining order and requires the AOC to update the registry accordingly. Additionally, the SPB must inform the AOC when a parolee's term of supervision ends.
Furthermore, the bill requires that the parole report filed prior to an inmate's parole eligibility date includes information on whether the inmate is subject to a domestic violence restraining order. If such an order is in effect, the SPB is authorized to impose specific conditions of parole to comply with the terms of the restraining order. The bill also calls for the development of a data-sharing system between the AOC and the SPB within one year of its enactment to facilitate the exchange of information related to domestic violence and parole supervision.
