This bill aims to expand the Information and Referral Services helpline within the Division of Disability Services in the Department of Human Services, with a focus on enhancing accessibility for individuals visiting State and county public facilities. The expanded helpline will assist individuals by providing information on available accommodations, such as disability ramps, sign language interpreters, and hearing loop technology. Additionally, it will address inquiries related to service animals, accessibility challenges, and offer guidance for navigating public spaces. State and county public facilities will designate an existing office to oversee accommodations arranged through the helpline, ensuring effective coordination and accessibility for users.

To support the implementation of this initiative, the bill appropriates $100,000 to the Division of Disability Services. The Division will also collaborate with State and county agencies to identify necessary information and assistance for the helpline and develop strategies for publicizing the service to ensure that individuals in need are aware of and can effectively utilize the expanded helpline. The act is set to take effect six months after its enactment.
