This bill amends current law to allow parents or guardians of twins or higher order multiples enrolled in public preschool programs to request that their children be placed in the same classroom or in separate classrooms. Previously, this provision applied only to students in grades K-8. The bill also introduces a new provision that allows parents or guardians to make similar requests for classroom placement if the twins or higher order multiples are enrolled in a public preschool program operated by a licensed child care provider, provided that the provider maintains multiple preschool classrooms.

Additionally, the bill mandates that public schools using a lottery system or open enrollment for preschool programs treat twins or higher order multiples as a single unit. This means that they will either be selected or waitlisted together for seats in the preschool program and cannot be placed in different schools or licensed child care providers within the district unless requested by their parents or guardians. The bill aims to ensure that families with twins or higher order multiples have more control over their children's educational placements and experiences.
