Currently, a surcharge of $0.50 is applied to every prearranged ride within the state, with a reduced surcharge of $0.25 for shared rides. The new legal language specifies that this surcharge will not be applicable to riders taking prearranged rides for paratransit services, which are defined as transportation services provided to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act and other related state laws.

Additionally, the bill clarifies that TNCs arranging prearranged rides for paratransit services will not be personally liable for these rides. This change aims to ensure that individuals using paratransit services are not burdened with additional costs while also providing legal protection for TNCs involved in these services. The bill is set to take effect immediately upon passage.
