This bill mandates the New Jersey Turnpike Authority (NJTA) and the South Jersey Transportation Authority (SJTA) to create toll discount programs specifically for veterans who hold active New Jersey electronic toll collection system accounts. Eligible veterans will receive a 50 percent discount on tolls collected via electronic systems at all hours. To qualify for the discount, the motor vehicle must be owned or leased by the veteran, registered in New Jersey, and linked to the veteran's active toll account.

The bill outlines the necessary proof required for veterans to apply for the discount, which includes documentation such as DD-214, DD-215, or DD-256 forms, county-issued veteran identification cards, or other approved separation forms. The NJTA and SJTA are tasked with approving applications based on this satisfactory proof of honorable discharge from military service. The act is set to take effect on the first day of the ninth month following its enactment.
