This bill amends current law to allow for a 30-calendar day extension to the existing 60-calendar day cure period for certain businesses to address and resolve violations. Under the current law, a State agency, department, or authority has the discretion to suspend enforcement of monetary fines or civil penalties for first-time violations that do not significantly impact public safety, employee benefits, or the environment. The bill introduces new language that permits these agencies to extend the cure period by an additional 30 days if good cause is shown.

Additionally, the bill clarifies the definition of "business" as an entity employing no more than 50 full-time employees and outlines various state employment or labor-related laws that are excluded from the suspension of penalties. The act is set to take effect immediately upon passage.
