The bill establishes the Automotive Anti-Theft Systems Task Force within the Department of Law and Public Safety, aimed at studying and recommending improvements in motor vehicle design features and products to prevent theft of vehicles and their parts. The task force will consist of 16 members, including the Attorney General and the Commissioner of Banking and Insurance (or their designees), representatives from various automotive and insurance organizations, and four public members with automotive manufacturing experience, all appointed by the Governor. Members will serve without compensation but can be reimbursed for necessary expenses.

The task force is required to organize promptly after appointments and will prepare a report within six months of its formation, detailing recommendations for enhancing motor vehicle theft prevention measures. This report will be submitted to the Governor and the Legislature and may include suggestions for legislative or regulatory actions. The task force will dissolve upon submission of this report.
