This bill mandates that certain public water systems, specifically those with more than 500 service connections, create and maintain a website or a dedicated webpage on the municipality's or county's website to enhance public access to information regarding their operations. The required information to be posted includes a description and map of the service area, the current and previous fiscal year budgets, the most recent Comprehensive Annual Financial Report, annual audits for the last two fiscal years, contact information for management personnel, relevant rules and regulations, and a list of individuals or organizations that received $17,500 or more in remuneration for services rendered to the water system in the preceding fiscal year.
The bill supplements the existing Water Quality Accountability Act, which already imposes various testing, reporting, management, and infrastructure investment requirements on public water systems. It clarifies that the term "water purveyor" does not include public utilities regulated by the Board of Public Utilities. The act is set to take effect immediately upon passage.
