The new legislation allows eligible individuals to receive up to 24 hours of private duty nursing services in a single day, contingent upon the severity of their illness as determined by the Commission of Human Services.

Additionally, the bill mandates that the Commissioner of Human Services seek any necessary state plan amendments or waivers to implement these changes and to ensure federal financial participation in state Medicaid expenditures. The Commissioner is also tasked with adopting rules and regulations to facilitate the bill's objectives.
