This bill mandates the New Jersey Department of Transportation (DOT) to publish a live tracking feed on its website for snowplows that are owned, operated, or contracted by the department when they are deployed to clear ice and snow from public roads and highways. The live tracking feed will utilize global positioning system technology to provide an interactive digital map of the snowplows' locations, ensuring that the public is informed about road conditions during winter weather events.

To protect the safety of snowplow operators, the bill stipulates that the live tracking feed must include a 15-minute delay in location tracking and must not disclose any identifying information about the operators or the snowplows, such as license plate numbers. The Commissioner of Transportation is authorized to adopt necessary rules and regulations to implement these provisions. The act is set to take effect immediately upon passage.
