This bill mandates that institutions of higher education and proprietary degree-granting institutions disclose specific information about their online programs if they have agreements with online program managers (OPMs). An OPM is defined as an entity that contracts with these institutions to provide various services related to online degree and certificate program delivery, including marketing, admissions, instruction, and student support, in exchange for financial compensation.
The required disclosures that institutions must make publicly available on their websites include the name of the OPM, admission requirements, a comparison of tuition costs for online versus on-campus programs, available financial aid, the average financial aid amount for online program students, and the percentage of online program students receiving financial aid. This act is set to take effect immediately upon passage.
