This bill aims to address the long-term health effects of COVID-19 by directing the New Jersey Department of Health to establish post-COVID-19 health clinics that offer physical and mental health evaluations, physical therapy, and other services at no cost to individuals previously diagnosed with the virus. The Department is also tasked with launching a public awareness campaign to inform the public about the long-term health effects of COVID-19, including publishing informational pamphlets and educating individuals in underserved areas about these effects.

Additionally, the bill establishes the New Jersey COVID-19 Long-Term Health Effects Task Force, which will consist of 15 members, including legislators, health officials, and community representatives. This task force is charged with studying the long-term health impacts of COVID-19 on racial and ethnic minorities in the state and is required to submit a final report and policy recommendations within one year of its formation. The Department of Health will also develop continuing education courses for healthcare professionals regarding the long-term effects of COVID-19 and methods to encourage patients to seek further care for any related conditions. The act will take effect immediately and will expire one year after the end of the public health emergency declared in response to COVID-19.
