This bill mandates the Department of Health (DOH) to develop and implement a mobile senior citizen assistance program within 180 days of the act's effective date. The program will utilize available funds to deploy staffed vehicles to various locations, including nursing homes, senior citizen centers, and low-income senior housing, to provide essential services to senior citizens. These services will encompass assistance with applications, correspondence, food and health care services, Internet access, legal services, appointment scheduling, tax services, transportation, and the use of computers and mobile devices.

Additionally, the Commissioner of Health is required to adopt necessary rules and regulations to implement the provisions of this act in accordance with the Administrative Procedure Act. The initiative is inspired by the Ocean County MASH Unit, which has successfully assisted seniors in that region through similar mobile services. The bill aims to enhance support for senior citizens across New Jersey by making vital resources more accessible.
