This bill mandates that all State agencies in New Jersey provide forms, applications, and other official documents in at least the five most commonly spoken languages in the state, as determined by the latest federal decennial census data. Additionally, State agencies are required to make these documents available in Gujarati, Korean, and Punjabi upon request. The definition of a State agency encompasses any principal department in the Executive Branch, as well as various divisions, boards, and independent authorities.
To facilitate the implementation of this requirement, the Secretary of State is tasked with adopting necessary rules and regulations in accordance with the Administrative Procedure Act. The bill is set to take effect on the first day of the third month following its enactment, although the Secretary of State may begin preparatory administrative actions beforehand.
