This bill amends current New Jersey law to allow certain licensed professionals, specifically those licensed by the New Jersey State Board of Cosmetology and Hairstyling in fields such as barbering, beauty culture, manicuring, hair braiding, or skin care, to teach in private cosmetology and hairstyling schools. Previously, only individuals holding a cosmetologist-hairstylist license were permitted to teach. The new provisions require that these individuals meet specific criteria, including demonstrating that their training is equivalent to or exceeds that required for a cosmetologist-hairstylist license.

Additionally, the bill introduces a new unlawful practice for teachers, making it illegal for them to teach courses that fall outside the scope of their professional license. This ensures that all instruction provided in private schools aligns with the qualifications of the teaching staff. The bill is set to take effect 90 days after its enactment.
