This bill aims to enhance the visibility and accessibility of alcohol manufacturers in New Jersey by amending the rules for the Tourist Oriented Directional Signs (TODS) Program and the Specific Service Sign (Logo) Program. The Department of Transportation, in coordination with the Federal Highway Administration, will include cideries, distilleries, and meaderies as eligible facilities for these programs. To qualify, these establishments must meet specific criteria, such as being located within 15 miles of a state highway, operating a minimum of six hours a day for at least three days a week, producing alcoholic beverages on-site, and having a tasting area and public tours available.
Additionally, the bill mandates the creation of an Internet website by the Division of Travel and Tourism, in consultation with the Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control, to provide comprehensive information about breweries, cideries, distilleries, and meaderies in the state. This website will feature a searchable list and interactive map, detailing each facility's location, driving directions, tour availability, photographs, and contact information. The goal is to promote these alcohol manufacturers and facilitate easier access for visitors, thereby supporting local tourism and the alcohol industry in New Jersey.
