This bill allows for the transfer of service credit from the Public Employees Retirement System (PERS) to the Prosecutors Part of PERS under specific conditions. It stipulates that any individual who was employed as a prosecutor on or before September 24, 2021, and is an active member of the Prosecutors Part at the time of this bill's enactment, can transfer service credit purchased in PERS based on eligible employment prior to that date. The transfer is permitted only if the service credit was purchased after September 24, 2021, but before the enactment of this bill, and it will be established in the Prosecutors Part without any additional cost to the member.

Additionally, the bill clarifies that any county prosecutor who purchases credit for service as a law clerk to a judge or justice will have that service established in the Prosecutors Part. It also allows county prosecutors or acting county prosecutors enrolled in the Defined Contribution Retirement Program to be eligible for service credit in the Prosecutors Part, provided they pay the equivalent contributions during their membership in the program. All outstanding obligations to the Public Employees' Retirement System must be satisfied by the prosecutor as scheduled.
