This bill mandates that the Commissioner of Health require all licensed physicians and healthcare practitioners providing perinatal care in New Jersey to refer individuals for an endometriosis evaluation if they have been diagnosed with preeclampsia and later exhibit symptoms of endometriosis. Additionally, the Board of Medical Examiners is tasked with ensuring that obstetric care providers inform these individuals about endometriosis, its warning signs, and the benefits of evaluation. Providers must either evaluate the individual for endometriosis or refer them to a qualified specialist unless the individual opts out in writing.

Furthermore, the Commissioner is required to collaborate with the Endometriosis Foundation of America and other designated organizations to create educational materials about endometriosis for pregnant individuals and new mothers who have been diagnosed with preeclampsia and show symptoms of the condition. Upon receiving a referral for evaluation, obstetric care providers must discuss the results with the individual and, if diagnosed with endometriosis, develop a treatment plan to mitigate risks associated with the condition. The bill is set to take effect 180 days after its enactment.
