This bill amends existing legislation regarding sports wagering advertisements in New Jersey. It modifies the required warning language to state, "Gambling is risky and can become addictive, resulting in catastrophic life consequences. If you or someone you know has a gambling problem and wants help, call 1-800 GAMBLER." This new language replaces the previous requirement, which simply stated, "If you or someone you know has a gambling problem and wants help, call 1-800 GAMBLER." Additionally, the bill mandates that this warning be displayed whenever a user opens an Internet site or mobile application that provides access to online sports pools, as well as in all print, billboard, sign, online, or broadcast advertisements related to sports pools.

The bill aims to enhance consumer awareness of the risks associated with gambling by providing a more explicit warning. It also ensures that the warning is consistently communicated across various platforms, thereby promoting responsible gambling practices. The act is set to take effect immediately upon passage.
