This bill mandates that public water systems, referred to as water purveyors, create and maintain a website or a dedicated webpage on the municipality's or county's website where they provide service. The purpose of this requirement is to enhance public access to information regarding the operations and activities of these water purveyors. The bill specifies that the following information must be made available: a description and map of the service area, the current and previous fiscal year budgets, the most recent Comprehensive Annual Financial Report, annual audits for the last two fiscal years, contact information for management personnel, relevant rules and regulations, and a list of individuals or organizations that received $17,500 or more in remuneration for services rendered to the public water system during the preceding fiscal year.
Additionally, the bill clarifies that the term "water purveyor" does not include public utilities regulated by the Board of Public Utilities. This legislation supplements the existing Water Quality Accountability Act, which already imposes various testing, reporting, management, and infrastructure investment requirements on larger public water systems. The bill is set to take effect immediately upon passage.
