This bill mandates that employers in New Jersey provide two hours of paid leave annually to each employee for the purpose of voting during general elections. The leave can be utilized at the beginning or end of an employee's work shift on election day. Employees must notify their employers two business days in advance if they require this leave, and employers are required to inform employees of their rights and obligations under this law at least ten days before a general election.

Certain categories of employees are exempt from this requirement, including those in the construction industry under a collective bargaining agreement, per diem health care employees, and public employees who already receive paid leave for voting under other laws. The bill also stipulates that any failure by an employer to provide the mandated leave will be treated as a violation of the New Jersey State Wage and Hour Law, subjecting the employer to penalties and civil actions as outlined in that law.
