The resolution also points out Turkey's disregard for UN Security Council resolutions calling for the return of occupied land and the documented human rights violations occurring in the occupied territories, including the desecration of religious sites.

The resolution calls for Turkey to withdraw its occupying forces and urges a comprehensive solution based on a bizonal, bicommunal federation that respects the rights of native Cypriots. It emphasizes the need for Turkey to adhere to international human rights agreements and cooperate in locating the remains of over 900 missing persons, including four U.S. citizens, from the conflict. Copies of the resolution will be sent to key U.S. government officials to raise awareness and prompt action regarding the situation in Cyprus.
