This bill amends P.L.1983, c.135 (C.56:8-26 et seq.) to prohibit the use of any software, device, or technological resource that circumvents security measures or access control systems on online ticket issuers' websites, which are designed to ensure a fair ticket buying process. The bill introduces a new definition for "online ticket issuer," encompassing any entity that sells tickets online, including owners or operators of entertainment venues, sports teams, theater companies, and their agents.

Additionally, the bill maintains the existing penalties for violations of the law, classifying such offenses as a crime of the fourth degree, which can result in imprisonment for up to 18 months, a fine of up to $10,000, or both. This legislative change aims to enhance the integrity of online ticket sales and protect consumers from unfair practices.
