This bill mandates the Division of Consumer Affairs within the Department of Law and Public Safety to establish, maintain, and annually update an open data portal on its website. The portal will provide public access to non-confidential statistical datasets, which will include information such as the number of applications for licensure, registration, or certification, average processing times, active licenses, and consumer complaints. The division is required to ensure that the portal allows users to sort datasets by professional or occupational board and provides year-by-year comparisons.
Additionally, the datasets made available through the open data portal must adhere to the open public records act and other relevant state and federal laws concerning information security and privacy. The bill emphasizes that any data not subject to public disclosure under these laws will not be included in the portal. The act is set to take effect on the first day of the ninth month following its enactment, although the Director of the Division of Consumer Affairs may take necessary administrative actions in advance for its implementation.
