This bill mandates that emergency medical technicians (EMTs) and firefighters in New Jersey receive specialized training regarding the risks associated with electric vehicles and the safe management of electric vehicle fires. The Director of the Division of Fire Safety, in collaboration with the New Jersey Fire and Emergency Medical Services Institute, is tasked with developing a training course for firefighters. Similarly, the Commissioner of Health, in consultation with relevant agencies, will create a training course for EMTs. Both groups are required to complete this training within 36 months of the bill's effective date.

The bill also stipulates that the Director of the Division of Fire Safety and the Commissioner of Health must adopt rules and regulations to implement the training programs, following the Administrative Procedure Act. The act is set to take effect six months after its enactment, although anticipatory administrative actions may be taken prior to that date to facilitate its implementation.
