This bill mandates the inclusion of New Jersey's wine growing regions in the state's marketing and advertising efforts aimed at attracting residents and visitors to wineries and viticulture attractions. Specifically, it amends current law to require that the advertising campaign established by the Division of Travel and Tourism, in collaboration with the Departments of Transportation and Agriculture, promotes the four designated wine growing regions: Central Delaware Valley AVA, Warren Hills AVA, Outer Coastal Plain AVA, and Cape May Peninsula AVA. The bill emphasizes the importance of these regions by ensuring they are featured on tourist directional signs, thereby enhancing visibility and accessibility for potential visitors.
Additionally, the bill outlines the process for wineries and viticulture attractions to participate in this advertising campaign, including the establishment of reasonable fees for the erection and maintenance of outdoor displays. It also introduces a visual arts competition, managed by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts in partnership with the Garden State Wine Growers Association, to select original artwork for these displays. The artwork must comply with specific criteria and be approved by the Commissioner of Transportation. The act is set to take effect 90 days after its enactment.
