The resolution urges the Monmouth County Board of County Commissioners to honor the memory of Jeffrey Mahon and Jeffrey Hoens by naming the bridge on County Route 18, also known as Ocean Avenue, between the Borough of Belmar and the Borough of Avon-by-the-Sea after them. Jeffrey Mahon, who was raised in Avon-by-the-Sea, tragically died in a motor vehicle accident at the age of 20. Jeffrey Hoens, who was raised in Westfield, New Jersey, passed away while free diving near the same bridge on July 16, 2016, coinciding with Mahon's birthday.

The resolution highlights the significance of the bridge to the families and the community, particularly noting the personal connection of Chief of Police Terence Mahon, who is Jeffrey Mahon's brother. It emphasizes the impact of these tragedies on the Monmouth County community and asserts that naming the bridge in their honor is a fitting tribute. The resolution will be transmitted to each member of the Monmouth County Board of County Commissioners for consideration.
