Additionally, the bill requires that at least two staff members trained in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and the use of the AED be present during these hours. Institutions are also responsible for ensuring that each defibrillator is regularly tested and maintained according to the manufacturer's guidelines, and that local emergency medical services are informed about the AED's type and location.

Furthermore, the bill provides civil liability immunity to institutions of higher education and their staff concerning the acquisition and use of the defibrillators, as outlined in existing law. This legislation aims to enhance the safety of students and staff by ensuring that life-saving equipment is readily available and that trained personnel are present in case of emergencies.
