This bill establishes the Youth Sports Task Force in New Jersey, tasked with examining and making recommendations on various issues related to youth sports, including abusive coaching, confrontational parents, and bullying of players. The task force will consist of 13 members, including six individuals with expertise in legal, policy, educational, social, or psychological aspects of bullying, appointed by the Senate President, Speaker of the General Assembly, and the Governor. Additionally, four public members, including parents or guardians of student-athletes and a youth victim of harassment, as well as three coaches from different youth sports backgrounds, will be appointed by the Governor.

The task force is charged with studying issues such as protection against unscrupulous business practices by for-profit youth sports entities, financial oversight of youth sports organizations, and training for coaches and parents on recognizing harassment and bullying. It is required to hold at least one public hearing to gather input and must submit a final report of its findings and recommendations to the Governor and Legislature within one year of its formation. The task force will dissolve 30 days after the report is issued.
