This bill amends existing New Jersey law to expand eligibility for free hunting, fishing, and trapping licenses, as well as free admission to State parks and forests, to include a broader range of military service members. Specifically, it allows free access for active members of the New Jersey National Guard who have completed Initial Active Duty Training, members of organized reserve units located in New Jersey, active duty members of any branch of the Armed Forces who are residents or stationed in the State, disabled veterans, and retired members of the New Jersey National Guard. The bill also clarifies the definition of "disabled veteran" and "Initial Active Duty Training" to ensure proper understanding of eligibility.

Additionally, the bill removes certain language from current law, such as the requirement that only residents could qualify for these benefits, thereby allowing nonresidents who meet the military service criteria to also receive free access and licenses. The changes aim to honor and support military personnel and veterans by providing them with greater access to recreational opportunities in New Jersey. The act is set to take effect on January 1 following its enactment.
