This bill amends current law to ensure that individuals who designate themselves as organ donors on their driver's licenses or identification cards will retain that designation upon renewal, provided they do not opt to remove it through a prescribed change of status procedure. The Chief Administrator of the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission is required to offer the opportunity to designate as an organ donor only to those who have not previously made such a designation under the "Revised Uniform Anatomical Gift Act."

Additionally, the bill mandates that the organ donor designation be displayed prominently on the license or identification card and establishes that the Chief Administrator must electronically record and store all organ donor designations. It also allows designated organ procurement organizations to have real-time electronic access to this information for verification purposes. The bill aims to streamline the process of organ donation and enhance public awareness of the donor program while ensuring that individuals' designations are respected during the renewal of their licenses or identification cards.
