This bill amends P.L.1983, c.135 (C.56:8-26 et seq.) to prohibit the use of any software, device, or technological resource that circumvents security measures or access control systems on online ticket issuers' websites, which are designed to ensure a fair ticket buying process. The bill introduces a new definition for "online ticket issuer," which encompasses any entity that sells tickets to the public via the Internet, including owners or operators of entertainment venues, sports teams, theater companies, and their agents.

Additionally, the bill maintains the existing penalties for violations of P.L.1983, c.135, classifying such violations as a crime of the fourth degree, which can result in imprisonment for up to 18 months or fines up to $10,000, or both. This reinforces the legal framework aimed at protecting consumers from unfair practices in the online ticket sales market.
