This bill mandates that campaign depository accounts established by candidates or joint candidates for public office must be closed no later than seven years after the end of their service in elected office or following an unsuccessful election attempt. It stipulates that any candidate or joint candidates who continue to manage or control candidate committees beyond this seven-year period must wind up those committees within one year of the bill's enactment.
Additionally, any remaining funds in these accounts that have not been allocated for permitted purposes must be transferred to the State General Fund. The bill also empowers the Election Law Enforcement Commission to create necessary rules and regulations to ensure compliance with these provisions.
