This bill establishes the Advisory Commission on Advancing LGBTQIA+ Youth Equity and Inclusion in Schools within the Executive Branch of the State Government. The commission will consist of 25 members, including various state commissioners, the Attorney General, and public members with expertise in LGBTQIA+ issues, appointed by the Governor, President of the Senate, and Speaker of the General Assembly. The commission is tasked with reviewing educational policies affecting LGBTQIA+ students, identifying best practices for inclusive environments, recommending strategies to combat bullying and discrimination, and advising on mental health support and professional development for educators. The initial members of the commission are to be drawn from those established under Executive Order No. 361 of 2024.

The commission is required to submit its initial report to the Governor and Legislature within 180 days of its organization, followed by annual reports detailing its findings and recommendations. This initiative aims to address the unique challenges faced by LGBTQIA+ students in New Jersey schools, including bullying and discrimination, and to ensure that they have access to a safe and supportive learning environment. The bill reflects the Legislature's commitment to advancing equity and inclusion for LGBTQIA+ youth in education.
