This bill amends Section 22 of P.L.2013, c.27 (C.5:12-95.24) to establish that amounts remaining in inactive or dormant Internet gaming accounts for a period of three years will be classified as unclaimed property under the Uniform Unclaimed Property Act, P.L.1989, c.58 (C.46:30B-1 et seq.). Previously, such amounts were divided equally, with 50% going to the casino licensee and 50% to the casino control fund. The new provision also mandates that before closing a wagering account, casino licensees must attempt to contact the account holder through mail, phone, and computer.

The bill aims to streamline the handling of inactive Internet gaming accounts by ensuring that unclaimed funds are treated consistently under existing unclaimed property laws, rather than being split between the casino and the control fund. This change is intended to provide clarity and improve the management of dormant accounts in the gaming industry. The act is set to take effect immediately upon passage.
