This bill amends current New Jersey law to prohibit municipalities from requiring the approval of a minor site plan or site plan for the addition of up to five van accessible parking spaces in existing parking facilities located within commercial zones. The bill specifies that this exemption from approval applies to improvements that meet the criteria established by the 2010 ADA Standards for Accessible Design.

Additionally, the bill defines "van accessible" as an accessible parking space that accommodates a wheelchair lift or ramp, has higher vertical clearance specifications, and is marked with a sign indicating its accessibility. The intent of this legislation is to streamline the process for municipalities and businesses to enhance accessibility without the burden of additional regulatory approvals. The act is set to take effect immediately upon passage.
