This bill mandates the transfer of authority for conducting inspections of on-farm dairy processing activities from the Department of Health to the Department of Agriculture. The Department of Agriculture will now oversee these inspections in collaboration with the Department of Health and local health boards. Additionally, all relevant resources, including books, records, and equipment currently held by the Department of Health for inspection purposes, will be transferred to the Department of Agriculture.
Furthermore, the bill stipulates that all employees from the Department of Health who are involved in the inspection of on-farm dairy processing operations will also be transferred to the Department of Agriculture, where they will be assigned new duties as determined by the Secretary of Agriculture. The Secretary is granted the authority to adopt necessary rules and regulations to implement the provisions of this act, which will take effect immediately upon enactment.
