This bill mandates that owners or operators of public electric vehicle charging stations must display the price per kilowatt-hour for electricity sold to consumers on a physical sign at the point of sale. The displayed price must be clearly visible, legible in both daylight and nighttime conditions, and updated in real-time or as soon as practicable. Additionally, if there are any fees beyond the price per kilowatt-hour, these must be itemized and displayed to consumers at the point of sale.
Violations of this requirement can result in civil penalties of up to $250 for each day the violation continues. The bill aims to enhance transparency for consumers using electric vehicle charging stations by ensuring they are informed of the costs associated with charging their vehicles. The act is set to take effect 180 days after its enactment.
