This bill mandates that institutions of higher education in New Jersey collect and publicly report employment outcomes and earnings data for their graduates. Specifically, it requires these institutions to include detailed information on their websites regarding the employment status of graduates from the three most recent academic years. The data must encompass the percentage of graduates employed full-time in their field of study, those employed in any field, those who enroll in graduate programs, and their salaries one year post-graduation. Additionally, this information must be disaggregated by various demographic factors, including race, ethnicity, age, family income, gender, and first-generation status.
To enhance transparency, the bill amends existing requirements under the New Jersey College Student and Parent Consumer Information Act, which previously focused on costs, graduation rates, and faculty information. The new provisions stipulate that institutions must maintain this employment data for four years and conduct annual surveys of recent graduates to gather the necessary information. Institutions are also required to provide a hard copy of this consumer information report with all paper applications for admission and ensure that their websites link to both their reports and a comparative profile maintained by the Secretary of Higher Education.
