This bill amends current law regarding health club services contracts by introducing new requirements for health clubs when ownership changes. Specifically, it mandates that health club facilities must notify members of any change in ownership, including the date of the transfer, and that contracts cannot be assigned to the new owner without the written consent of the members. This consent can be provided electronically and must be obtained prior to the transfer of ownership. If the new owner fails to secure this consent within 30 days of the ownership change, the contract will be considered canceled unless the member later agrees to the assignment.

Additionally, the bill includes definitions for terms such as "automatic renewal" and "clear and conspicuous," ensuring that members are adequately informed about their rights and the terms of their contracts. The changes aim to enhance consumer protection for health club members by ensuring they have a say in the assignment of their contracts and are kept informed about significant changes within the health club facility. The provisions of this bill will take effect immediately for contracts entered into on or after the enactment date.
