This bill revises the penalties associated with violations of limousine laws in New Jersey. It introduces stricter penalties for various offenses, including operating a limousine without a municipal license, allowing unlicensed drivers, failing to maintain required insurance, and exceeding passenger capacity. For the third and subsequent offenses, violators will face a fine of $7,500, a six-month suspension of their driver's license, and the immediate impoundment of the vehicle. Additionally, similar penalties are established for operating a limousine without special registration plates or proper inspection.

The bill also outlines fines for lesser offenses, such as $250 for the first offense of not having the required sideboards or proof of insurance, escalating to $500 for subsequent offenses. Other violations, such as not being equipped with necessary safety equipment, incur fines starting at $50 for the first offense. The enforcement of these penalties will be conducted through summary proceedings, and the State Police are granted the authority to inspect limousine service operators' properties upon probable cause of violations. The act is set to take effect immediately upon passage.
