This bill designates State Highway Route 10 as the American Legion Memorial Highway in honor of the contributions and services of the American Legion, particularly during World War I. The American Legion, established in 1919, has played a significant role in advocating for veterans and their families, and this designation aims to recognize their ongoing support for veterans and service members in New Jersey, where the organization has over 30,000 members and more than 250 posts.

The bill stipulates that no state or public funds will be used for the production, purchase, or erection of signs that bear this designation. Instead, the Commissioner of Transportation is authorized to accept gifts, grants, or other financial assistance from private sources to cover these costs. Additionally, the bill requires that an agreement be established with a responsible party to ensure funding for the signs before any work can commence. The act is set to take effect immediately upon passage.
