This bill amends the Fiscal Year 2026 annual appropriations act by reallocating a previously designated appropriation of $350,000 for Borinqueneer Park Improvements from the City of Perth Amboy to the Borinqueneers Park Education Alliance, a New Jersey non-profit corporation. The total state aid appropriation is adjusted from $945,063,000 to $944,713,000, with a corresponding decrease in the General Fund allocation from $155,850,000 to $155,500,000. Additionally, the total grants-in-aid appropriation for social services programs is increased from $87,750,000 to $88,100,000, reflecting the new allocation to the Borinqueneers Park Education Alliance.
The Borinqueneers Park Education Alliance is established to support the construction of a memorial in Perth Amboy honoring the 65th Infantry Regiment of the United States Army, known as The Borinqueneers, who served valiantly during the Korean War and were awarded the Congressional Gold Medal in 2016. This bill does not increase the overall appropriations for the fiscal year but reallocates existing funds to better support the memorial project.
