This bill establishes a one-time grant program aimed at supporting the implementation of free, full-day kindergarten programs in specific school districts in New Jersey that currently do not offer such programs. The Commissioner of Education is tasked with creating this program, which requires participating school districts to submit an application detailing their implementation plans and associated costs. The eligible districts identified for this program include Moorestown Township, Haddonfield, Metuchen, Monroe Township, Millstone Township, the School District of the Chathams, Bridgewater-Raritan, Hillsborough Township, Cranford, and Westfield.

To fund this initiative, the bill appropriates $5 million from the General Fund to the Department of Education for the grant program. Grants will be distributed evenly among the approved school districts, contingent upon the approval of their applications by the Commissioner. The bill is set to take effect immediately upon passage.
