This bill mandates the establishment of a Human Trafficking Unit within the New Jersey Department of Law and Public Safety, led by the Attorney General. The unit will consist of one or more assistant or deputy attorneys general, with one designated as the Human Trafficking Coordinator. The unit's responsibilities include prosecuting human trafficking cases, assisting counties in investigations, providing victim support information, collaborating with various state departments and agencies, and conducting public awareness campaigns to educate the public about human trafficking.

Additionally, the Attorney General is required to develop a training course and curriculum for law enforcement and county prosecutors on handling human trafficking cases, which will be reviewed and updated every two years. The Human Trafficking Coordinator will also be responsible for providing an annual report to the Governor and the Legislature detailing the unit's activities and any recommendations for legislative improvements.
