Additionally, the bill modifies the eligibility requirements for licensure without examination for individuals holding licenses from other states or countries. It stipulates that those with less stringent eligibility criteria may still qualify if they can provide satisfactory evidence of three years of practical experience working in a licensed shop. The bill also clarifies that individuals working under a provisional permit will not be in violation of existing laws prohibiting unlicensed barbering, provided they are under the supervision of a licensed barber in New Jersey and have made a good faith effort to obtain a license.
